An impossible freedom

‘An impossible freedom’ (2014) combines handwritten text alongside a series of black and white photographs.

Although in this series a sense of oppression might be conveyed through the representation of enclosed domestic scenes and use of blackness, viewing also allows for freedom of interpretation, and potentially a sense of resolving the seemingly unresolvable.

(Feb 2016 – I have rediscovered a short film that I made in 2014 to accompany this work. )
