I set out to photograph the very edge of the land, for an exhibition in Bradford, bringing the beach to the city in a project led by Fuse.

The July day brought warm sun and blue sky until around noon, then haze, before the thickest sea fog rolled over the land bringing disorientation and isolation.

I played with different cameras.  My photographs were varied in format, also in light and colour due to the rapidly changeable conditions. The most surprising results were those I had taken with a small self-built kit plastic camera.

Like planets suspended in space, the tiny details in the rocks and water had been given vastness.  These images encompassed a human sense of smallness whilst standing on the beach looking out.
